IT IS EASY TO PLACE AN ORDER WITH ME
1) E-mail (penmagic@cox.net) or call me to reserve a place on my calendar.
Tell me the date of your event and the size of your guest list and the services requested. I will e-mail you a Letter of Agreement to sign that spells out the calligraphy service , the time frame, and the total price. You may either bring it to me if you live in San Diego, or fax or mail it back to me. Before I begin the work I will need a 50% deposit. You may pay by check, or by credit card through Paypal. (see below)
2) Order your invitations
Important!! Don't forget to order a 10-15% overage of the envelopes which you will give me. This is for ink blots and human error, plus you may need some extras for guests added along the way. Also order your matching place cards and table cards from your stationer, ordering a 10% overage of them as well.
3) Bring or mail your envelopes to me along with your guest list.
Please give me a time frame of 1 week per 150 envelopes. I will address them and mail them back to you, or if you live in San Diego you can pick them up. See below for how to make out your guest list.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
CHOOSING THE INVITATION STATIONERY
Paper quality is important for hand calligraphy, as the paper must not be able to absorb the ink or cause it to bleed. If possible, ask your stationer for a sample and test it with a felt pen or a fountain pen. Recycled paper is usually quite porous, so not a good choice for pen and ink calligraphy. Also, be aware that a foil lined outer envelope incurs an extra charge since my guide lines cannot be seen through it when the envelope is put on my light box. In that case all guide lines must be first penciled in and then erased, thus the extra charge.
HOW TO WRITE OUT YOUR GUEST LIST
Type up your guest list in two columns, one for the outer envelope and one for the inner envelope. To receive a chart showing the proper etiquette for making out the guest list, ask me for the Guest List Etiquette Rules which I will provide for you. I will follow exactly the way you have written the guest list to address the envelopes, so it needs to be correct. You can also purchase the Crane's Wedding Blue Book for all your etiquette questions.
TIME FRAME
Order your invitations well in advance. They should be mailed out approximately 8 weeks before your wedding so plan accordingly when you order your invitations. Keep in mind that you will need to allow mail time to me plus one week of my time for every 150 envelopes to complete the calligraphy. Once you have your response cards returned by your invited guests, you can let me know your confirmed guest list and I will write out your recepption place cards.
MAILING INFORMATION
Insured Priority mail is the recommended safe and secure way of sending your envelopes to me worry free. I will let you know that they arrived safely and once addressed I will mail them back to you in the same box. The return postage charge will be added to your final invoice.
PAYMENT INFORMATION
I will accept a personal check or cashiers check or you can pay with your credit card through Paypal. Just click the Paypal button on this page and you will be sent to a secure web sight to give your credit card information. A 50% deposit is required before any work begins.
